Shadows Into Light Chapter Thirteen

Chapter Thirteen – Some Luck…

After spending a few hours scouring the city, the assorted group of super-powered teens had deduced that Iridessa could only be in one place: the forest. While this seemed to be an obvious choice from the start, they were surprised she wanted to step anywhere near that place. Heck, they didn’t even want to go there! Shrugging beyond their fears, the party began to move along, slowly but surely.

Iridessa had been taking a short nap when she woke with a start. While the sight seemed the same as when she had fallen asleep, she could sense otherwise. He had come. Getting to her feet, Iridessa allowed Lux to take control. If anyone could handle Nox, it was him. As expected, the shadowy figure emerged from behind a nearby building. A glare was passed between the two, each waiting for the other to strike. Without warning, Nox’s eyes began to darken and a dark aura surrounded him. “Time to get serious.” he called out as a blast of energy touched down where Lux had been standing. He was currently in the air, landing from a jump. Lux recoiled with a shot of his own, barely brushing the dark one. To the hero’s surprise, Nox went straight for a punch, landing the blow right in his opposition’s stomach. This began hand-to-hand combat, each fighting with all of their might. They were both matched evenly, yet Nox had a slight advantage, due to Umbra being a thief and having fighting experience.

Spark and Mystic were struggling to stay slow enough to let the rest catch up. It was irritating in their excitement. Suddenly, they stopped. Everyone caught up, and then heard why they stopped. The sounds of fighting could be heard from ahead… where the old town is. Exchanging a glance, they rushed forward to see what was going on.

Nox had Lux pinned on the floor, fist poised to punch. Quickly, Pacifica blasted water upon the attacker, knocking him off balance. A sharp glare was sent toward the arriving party. “Iridessa! Are you okay?” Aura called out to the recovering figure. Lux found no time to respond, as Nox was calculating his next move. This is when the teens began an onslaught, each attacking with all their might. Mystic went in for an kick, teleporting away… into his brother. “What the heck are you doing?! Get outta my way!” Oblivion yelled at his sibling. “Sorry!” he replied sarcastically. They fought as most brothers do, each trying to outdo the other. They were both suddenly stopped by the feeling of fingers wrapping around their necks. Struggling would to prove to be of no use as the powerful grip only tightened. Nox dropped the two lifeless bodies to the floor, turning to face Lux. “Who’s next?”
