Old Yeller by Fred Gipson is a well known classic. The story is of young Travis, whose father is away driving cattle. He lives with his little brother and his mom when a golden dog comes to stay with them. At first, Travis isn’t a big fan of the dog, but he shows his loyalty by saving the family on various occasions. The ending to this book is truly depressing, so I won’t spoil it. This book brought tears to everyone who read it, and is worth every second.
