In this graph it shows that El Nino is expected to hit the hardest in 2015-2016

For the past 2-3 months meteorologists have been talking about a storm named El Niño. This storm is suspected to be one of the biggest ever and produce a heavy amount of rain until it is expected to end in the spring of 2016. El Niño caused it to rain in the western area of California on September 15th 2015. Since then we haven’t received any rain except a little drizzle here and there. In the graph, you can see that meteorologists have predicted that this year is when El Niño will hit California the hardest and rain the most. El Niño isn’t a new storm because it has been watched and followed since around the 1900’s. Due to  the latest rain, there have been warnings of floods and mudslides around areas with hilltops and steep roads.

Here are some tips to help keep your family safe, residents of California who live on the bottom of a steep road or hill should be prepared just in case another rain storm occurs. People who have trouble with flooding or mud getting in there houses or yards should buy sandbags from their local store and put them all around the surroundings of their house. El Niño is one solution that can help with our drought, but there are some things we have to watch out for. Let us hope that this storm helps California with its drought problem, but also remember to stay safe.
