Russia’s Hacking of the U.S. Presidential Election
As Christmas neared, news of Russian hacking dominated headlines. The Russians tried to interfere with the U.S. presidential election, according to FBI Director James Comey. The Russians tried to deny such allegations, but many felt the evidence was too high to dispute. Russians also leaked information that impacted the Democrat’s chance of winning the election, such as the emails that showed the Democratic National Committee Chair shared debate questions with Hillary Clinton. This occurred during the primary elections, and according to CNN.com, this leak may have had a major impact on the final election results. The main story the news is currently reporting is the attempt to influence the national election by possibly swaying votes or doing other actions to change the outcome of the election. An FBI report revealed that the hackers tried to help President-elect Donald Trump win. President-elect Donald Trump and his team says the Russians had no influence on the election. Although the FBI had no conclusion to how severe the Russians influence on our election was, we can’t be sure what might have happened without the Russian hacking.
