Xanadu: A Preview

For the past 3 months, the drama club of Saint Philip the Apostle school has been hard at work, preparing its latest musical: Xanadu! This musical follows the story of a young Greek Muse called Clio, who must journey into the mortal world, which is currently in the 80s’, to inspire Sonny Malone, a young artist lacking the drive to continue his work. To do this, Clio becomes Kira, and finds that there is much more to her journey than simply inspiring Sonny.

Now, you may be wonder: What happens on her journey? Does she get into trouble, or does everything go as planned? Who else does she meet along the way? Is it the good kind of 80s’ style, or the bad kind of 80s’ style? Well, luckily, you won’t have to wait until the opening weekend to get your very first taste. This Friday, at the end of the day, the cast will be putting on a preview for the whole of the school. Though the scenes they will be performing are still undecided, they’ll be sure to give you a good taste of the show. However, the preview will be just that; a taste. Though the preview is sure to be good fun, it’s also sure to leave you wanting for the rest of the story. Luckily, Friday is also the opening night of the musical. For more details, you can see the weekly packet of the school, or the flyer that went home inviting everyone to the musical.

As a member of the cast myself, I may be a bit biased in saying that the show is really worth seeing, but in all impartial truth, it really is. Our cast has worked long and hard to prepare this musical for everyone, and it looks truly spectacular. So, if you find that you need to know what happens to Kira, I would say this: Enjoy the preview, and if you can, come down to see our show!
