An Interview with Mr. Yniguez

An interview with Mr. Y
Mr. Yniguez, good old Mr. Y, we see him every day, we all know him…or do we? I sat down with our beloved, yet mysterious, vice principal and got to ask him some questions so we can all learn a little more about who he really is. Here’s what I learned.
- How long have you been at St. Philip’s now?
- Nine Years
- What do you like best about your job?
- There are many things I could choose from: hot lunch, mass on Tuesdays, but what I like most is being able to work with and help the students everyday.
- What do you like least about your job?
- After school pickup on a hot day!
- If you were principal what is the first thing you would do?
- I would set my alarm 30 minutes early to give me more time to do the job.
- How do you feel about shorter school days and longer summers?
- Well I can certainly see the appeal but I would miss the students too much.
- What advice do you have for the students?
- The best advice I can give the students is not only to study school subjects, but to learn to be a good person.
- Tell me something about Mrs. Ramirez that only you know.
- I know the recipe to Mrs. Ramirez’s famous popcorn seasoning.
- What do you like best about St. Philip’s?
- The students, teachers, parents, everyone! And the hot lunch.
- Where did you grow up and go to school?
- Bakersfield, CA. I went to school at St. Francis, then Garces Memorial. They were both Catholic schools.
- What is your favorite item on the hot lunch menu?
- Fresh chicken breast and white rice.
- What is your favorite pizza topping?
- My favorite pizza topping is chicken.
- What is your favorite movie?
- My favorite movie of all time is Kung Fu Panda.
- Do you play any musical instruments?
- The only instrument I currently play is the magic piano app on my Ipad, although I used to play the guitar on Guitar Hero.
- Lakers or Clippers?
A . Lakers
- Dodgers or Angels?
A . Angels
- Hamburgers or Hotdogs?
A . Hamburgers (only if cheeseburger)
- Chocolate or Vanilla?
A . Vanilla
- Dogs or Cats?
A . Dogs
- Detention or Suspension?
A . (Neither I prefer rehabilitation)
As you can see, Mr. Y is a good guy. I believe he genuinely likes and cares about the students. Although, I was a little disappointed with his lack of a position on shorter school days and longer summers. But what are you going to do, he is the vice principal.
