The Ranger’s Apprentice

The Ranger’s Apprentice: The Ruins of Gorlan is a science fiction book by John Flanagan.  The book is about a boy named Will who wants to be a knight but doesn’t meet the size and strength standards.  He is not chosen by any craft masters and all of his friends were, which meant he would be a farmer for the rest of his life.  He notices that Halt the ranger puts a letter on the barron’s desk.  Will is intrigued by the letter and scales the castle wall in the middle of the night to see the letter.  He is accepted as a ranger but gets caught by Halt.  What will happen, will Will become a ranger or get punished and spend the rest of his life working on a farm?  You can read The Ranger’s Apprentice to find out.
