Hurricane Patricia
Hurricane Patricia was a tropical cyclone that hit Mexico fiercely with its 165 mph winds. Meteorologists said the hurricane was a category 4 storm, and then turned into a category 5 hours later, which was the strongest hurricane there could be. This hurricane hit the central most region of Mexico where it destroyed many homes and took people’s lives. Hurricane Patricia had tourists and natives frightened because they were told that it had been destroying many parts of Mexico and they didn’t want the storm to hit them. The storm started out hitting Cuixmala, Mexico then drifted to Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo, where people were running for cover. Meteorologists stated that the storm was fiercer due to El Niño because this storm brings both wind and rain. El Niño added on the pressure of the storm drastically by causing more damage to cities and families in Mexico. Hurricane is being compared to the hurricane in the Philippines named Typhoon Haiyan. Typhoon Haiyan was also a category 5 hurricane that killed almost 5,000 people and destroyed many homes and buildings that were in its path. Hurricane Patricia was the strongest hurricane recorded by the United States because it was stronger than Hurricane Katrina, Camille and Andrew, these hurricanes battered the United States and the Philippines hard but Hurricane Patricia was stronger. The suffering is ending as the days pass since the hurricane but the natives of Mexico are heartbroken after they saw their towns and cities destroyed by the strongest hurricane the U.S. has recorded.
