KATSEYE is a girl group formed by HYBE (K-pop powerhouse) and Geffen Records (Universal Music Group) through the 2023 survival show The Debut: Dream Academy, where young women from all over the world were faced with challenges to try and learn the K-pop training of famous groups like BTS and BlackPink. The six-member international group consists of Sophia, Lara, Daniela, Yoonchae, Megan, and Manon. They use their K-pop training with Western pop to try to entertain on a global level. They are beloved by many, but their era of bliss might come to an end.

Manon, one of the members, is on a “temporary hiatus” for health reasons. She said that she is supported by the label and her group, one specifically saying that, “We love her so much and we’re all just rooting for each other”, and she said she is having positive conversations with the label.

Manon is a Swiss singer and model outside of being the first Black woman signed to a HYBE label. She was born in Switzerland to an Italian-Swiss mother and Ghanaian father. Some people didn’t like her because of how she was framed as an antagonist in the Dream Academy show, but that rumor was dismissed early on and many people love her.

Manon has not officially left KATSEYE, but her status is uncertain. Fans speculated she left after she removed the band from her Instagram bio and absence from “Pinky Up” promotions, a Glossier billboard ad and the 2026 Coachella performances.
