As the weather outside gets colder, we now transition inside for the great sport of basketball.
The varsity girls tipped off on Tuesday the 6th, with a dominant win over Alverno. They jumped out in front by 20+ points and were able to cruise to a victory. They then defeated St Rita in a hard-fought defensive battle 26-20. On the 15th, they went to Assumption and beat them on their own court. On tap this week, they defeated Holy Family on Tuesday and will play St Rita again on Thursday. They will close out the season at Alverno, and at home vs Assumption (again) and Holy Family (again). With this round robin schedule where each team plays the others twice, the Falcons will become very familiar with the division, and possibly use it to their advantage.
After a friendly game win vs Alverno, the varsity boys began their league season with a definitive victory over Our Lady of the Angels 53-19. Their game on Tuesday vs Immaculate Conception was postponed to a to be determined date, but they will take the court again on Monday the 26th vs Holy Family. They will play out the rest of their season with St Therese, Assumption, St Rita, and St Andrew.
The JV Boys basketball team will begin with a matchup vs St Therese, and play a largely similar schedule to Varsity with exceptions, like playing Sts. Felicitas and Perpetua, and the Holy Family JV team.
I will personally try to make it to as many home games as possible, at all levels. If you see me there, say hello or give your thoughts on the game (on or off-record). If I have any errors or omissions please let me know, and if you have any suggestions, shoot an email or come talk in person. Thank you and GO Falcons!
