The varsity flag football team of St. Philip consists of 30 players from the 7th and 8th grades.

The first flag football game was against Holy Angels on Wednesday, October 5th, and resulted in a Falcons’ win in overtime.

In the second game of the season, the Falcons remained undefeated (2-0) with a 22-6 win over Alverno.

St. Philip opened the scoring with a strong run up the middle by Michael Vanis.

Later, quarterback Gavin Miller went 35 yards to wide receiver Dean Majich, who took it to the house for a Falcons’ touchdown.

The final touchdown came at the end of the game, when Matthew Favela caught a 25 yard pass and scampered into the end zone.

The defense for the Falcons was also exceptional, holding Alverno to only one touchdown.

Defensive lineman Christian Zlidenny led the “D” with 7 tackles, including 3 sacks.

The Falcons will be back in action this Thursday with a game at San Gabriel Mission.

Coach Campagna is hoping everyone has fun, plays well, and continues to win!
