On Saturday, January third the U.S. military attacked Venezuela leading to the capture of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife. The U.S. sent a fleet of warships to the region, the biggest build up in generations. The official mission to arrest the president and his wife was led by the Army’s elite special operations unit Delta Force. The U.S. bombed the capital city and arrested the president and his wife. “Officials said Tuesday that 24 Venezuelan security officials were killed during the raid, along with 32 Cuban military and police officers, who were responsible for guarding Maduro” (Fox News).
