This years Spring Concert theme was Music at the Movies. This means every song each grade was singing is one from a movie. This Spring Concert was a very special one because it was our new music teacher, Mr. Panganiban’s, first Concert at St Philip. In this article we will talk about our opinion on each grades performance.
TK sang “Under the Sea” from “the Little Mermaid”. They all wore Ariel costumes/dresses and beach themed outfits. They were so cute and so excited to sing. We are eager to see them singing in a couple years too.
Kindergarten sang “Try Everything” from “Zootopia.” They dressed up as different animals. Some even had face paint and ears. They projected very loud. Also were so fun to listen and got the crowd cheering.
1st grade sang “a Whole new World” from “Aladdin.” They dressed up as Jasmine, a Disney princess, and wore teal, purple, and red. They really sang it beautifully and exactly the way it was sang in the movie. We heard some people had chills!
2nd grade sang “Somewhere over the rainbow” from “Wizard of Oz”. They all wore rainbow colors. They were very happy. Their smiles were as wide as a rainbow. We loved hearing this classic song as a new string concert favorite.
3rd grade sang “Can you Feel the Love Tonight” from “Lion King.” They dressed up as a lot of different animals from the savanna. Some even dressed up as Simba. It really felt as if we were in the movie.
4th grade sang “Hard Knock Life” from “Annie.” They were dressed up as orphans. Some outfits even looked handmade. They really got into character during the performance. It was one of our favorites.
5th grade sang “Rainbow Connections” from “the Muppet Show.” They wore rainbow and pastels. It was very cute and entertaining. We thought it was a very good execution. Also it gave everyone a smile at the end.
6th grade sang “Go the Distance” from “Hercules”. They wore gold, white, and cream. Some boys wore capes and masks as a costume. Some girls wore tiara like crowns. It was a very hard song, but they pushed through to finish it.
7th grade sang “Can’t take My Eyes off of You” from “10 Things I Hate About You”. Most of them wore suits or skirts. All of them were in black and white, so it gave the performance more dimension. We love this song and were very glad we got to listen to it. Also one of the 7th graders, James Childs, played the guitar and was amazing.
Lastly, 8th grade danced to “You’re the one that I want” from “Greece.” They did a salsa style dance with the help of Ms. Jo and Coach Brandon. They choreographed the steps for them to dance too. We think 8th grade did a great job dancing. We are also so sad to have them leave St. Philip, but excited for their journey to highschool.
