Call of the Wild by Jack London is a classic piece of literature. Buck, a Saint Bernard/Scotch Shepherd mix, has an easy life. He lives in sunny California, where he rules his household. Then, when the Alaskan Gold Rush requires sled dogs, he is taken from his home and sent to Alaska, where he is then put to work. He quickly learns the “Law of Club and Fang”, which states that any man with a club is to be given respect, but without the weapon a dog can strike. Over his journey, Buck slowly becomes more primal, feeling the senses of his ancestors. Will he survive in the harsh Alaskan wilderness, or will he perish on his snowy trip?
