Meringues
This week we are making meringues. To make meringues you need:
Ingredients:
- 4 egg whites
- 1 pinch of salt
- ¼ teaspoon of cream of tartar
- 1 ⅓ cup sugar
- ½ teaspoon of lemon zest
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 275°F and line cookie pans with parchment paper
- In a none greases bowl, whip together the egg whites, cream of tartar and pinch of salt until they look like soft peaks
- Then add in the sugar a tablespoon at a time and stop whipping when they have stiff peaks
- Next, you fold in the lemon zest
- You then put about 1 ½ tablespoons of the mixture on to the pans and bake for 35 minutes or until they can peel off without sticking
