W.A.R.P Book One: The Reluctant Assassin

Eoin Colfer is famous for the Artemis Fowl series, but he’s at it again with his newest series, W.A.R.P (Witness Anonymous Relocation Program). The first book in the franchise, The Reluctant Assassin caught my eye at the book fair, and am glad it did! The story begins in Victorian London, where Riley, an orphan, is unwillingly apprenticed by Albert Garrick, a magician turned assassin. When Garrick takes Riley to commit his first murder, Riley gets a lucky break when their victim is a scientist from the future. He is part of the W.A.R.P (Witness Anonymous Relocation Program). Riley is then accidentally transported to present day London, where he is aided by Chevron Savano, a seventeen year old FBI agent. Together, they must work to escape Albert, who has mutated through the time travel to have access to all of the scientist’s knowledge. Will they be able to stay alive in the wake of the assassin, or will they be just two more to fall victim to his blade?
