On Tuesday, June 2 at 6:00 p.m, St. Philip the Apostle School hosted Sports Recognition Night. If you don’t know, Sports Recognition Night is when everyone who took part in a sport or coached a sport comes to Holy Angel Hall to get their certificates and to congratulate everyone for making it through a great year. In the fall the sports are football, volleyball and cross country. In the winter there is basketball and in the spring there is track and softball. Every year an eighth grade boy and girl is awarded the  Scholar Athlete of the Year Award. The  Scholar Athlete of the Year Award is given to a student that plays many sports they excel at, have good sportsmanship, and keep a good GPA. This year Ryan Dubb and Paul Hawkins got the honor of receiving this award. Ryan was involved in volleyball, softball, and basketball and got a scholarship to FSHA. Paul took part in track, cross country, basketball and football and got a scholarship to Loyola. Students that participated in sports can get awards too, it’s called The Coaches Award. You get this award if you work hard in that sport and are a team leader. Congratulations to everybody who participated in this years St. Philip sports this year!
