Teacher Of The Month-Ms. Garnett

Our new Teacher of the Month is Ms. Garnett. Ms. Garnett is the wonderful beat dropping, book loving second grade teacher! She attended Catholic schools in the Valley for elementary and high school, and attended several universities to earn her various degrees, including San Diego State and Saddleback College. She loves helping kids, and has worked as a child psychologist. Along with counseling children, she has also worked with adults, and even counseled NBA player Byron Scott. Ms. Garnett loves to perform, and as she admits, “I can drop a pretty sick beat.” Even though she loves rap and Frank Sinatra, Ms. Garnett’s favorite song is Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop The Feeling.” Some of her favorite things to do are sing, dance, read books, and watch movies. Even though Ms. Garnett is a new teacher to us, she has been teaching for 14 years at various other schools. She has taught a variety of grades ranging from first to eighth grade. As a kid, her favorite subjects were drama and math, and it was in high school that Ms Garnett decided that she wanted to become a teacher. Her goals for teaching second grade are to encourage students to find ways to support themselves, such as asking for help when they need it, and learning to be responsible for their assignments and materials. We are lucky to have a teacher with such an interesting background at our school, and we welcome her.
